We live in a society in which many younger people say that they are seeking a faith community that
both shares their values of love and inclusion and that is also in touch with the most ancient and
meaningful traditions of the church. Saint Ignatius sits on a corner of West End Avenue and 87th
Street living out those very precepts: we participate very deeply in the liturgical and spiritual traditions
of the Catholic faith that are our inheritance and, at the same, welcome all people to participate at all
levels in the ministry of our church.
At Saint Ignatius we have a growing number of you in your 20s and 30s—single and married, gay and
straight, students and professionals. We are in the process of developing programs especially for you, a
group that has for a while now been under represented throughout the Episcopal Church. Already a
number of our young adults are singing in our new Evensong Choir and getting to know each other
better. We are looking to offer activities that meet your spiritual need for fellowship as well as for
deepening your knowledge and experience of our faith.
We are in conversation with another Episcopal Church in Manhattan about partnering in ministry for
this very purpose. We will keep you all informed as these conversations turn into plans and as plans
turn into events.
In the meanwhile, please be in touch with the
if you have any questions or suggestions about
what we have to offer young adults here at Saint Ignatius. Please be in touch especially if you are
interested in helping us launch our new programs or get involved in the life of the parish.
You can also follow these developments and stay in touch with us on our Facebook group, which you
are certainly most welcome to join.
