7 p.m. — Solemn Mass. The Choir of St Ignatius of Antioch will sing “Messe de Nostre Dame” by Guillaume de Machaut (c.1300-1377). Machault, French composer, poet, and priest, set ballads to music in a highly personal, expressive style foreshadowing that splendid French invention, the chanson. "La Messe de Nostre Dame" (his sole surviving mass), a seminal work in Western music, is the earliest known polyphonic setting of the Ordinary by a single composer.
